Children see the world with fresh eyes and unique perspectives that always surprise and delight me. Each child comes in with their own excitement and their own concerns. The most rewarding part of my job as a Pediatric Dentist is when I turn a shy, worried kid into an excited and happy patient who is a little sad to leave and looks forward to coming back to the dentist.  Dr. Ian Bell
Growing up, Dr. Bell knew he wanted to either run an amusement park full of dinosaurs or become a dentist. Since discovering that Jurassic Park was only a movie, the choice was easy to make. Dr. Bell went to the University of Iowa for dental school, where he learned a lot about dentistry and also learned that he no longer enjoyed cold winters that last over six months.
Attracted to the beauty and culture of the Northwest, Dr. Bell initially relocated to Seattle where he worked as a general dentist for two years. It was during his time in Seattle that Dr. Bell came to realize that he was much happier working with children. At the encouragement of a couple friends who were pediatric dentists, Dr. Bell applied to and was accepted into the pediatric dental residency at Oregon Health & Science University, which he graduated from in June 2019.  Dr. Akbar Khan, D.M.D.
Dr. Akbar Khan, D.M.D. is our newest member of the Great Grins team! Dr. Akbar grew up in New York City, NY and Norwich, CT and has very strong opinions on pizza and lobster rolls. He received his B.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Connecticut. After graduating, he completed a one-year hospital-based residency at Harvard with a major focus on treating medically compromised patients. While in Boston, he developed strong opinions on clam chowder and cannoli.
Dr. Akbar then moved to Minneapolis, MN to complete his pediatric dental residency at the Masonic Children’s Hospital where he was selected to serve as chief resident. In Minneapolis he gained a newfound appreciation for walleye and banh mi. He enjoys spoiling his cat, cooking/baking for friends (and the occasional foe), drinking espresso like water, sewing, landscape photography, woodworking, but most of all, he enjoys spending time backwoods camping and hiking in U.S. National Parks.
