Flossing Great Grins for KIDS - Portland OR 97233-2161Some parents worry when it comes to teaching their children the intricacies of brushing and flossing. However, it does not need to be a chore.

Both brushing and flossing are very important when it comes to taking care of your mouth, as is coming in to see us.

When we teach children this at a young age, they are more prone to take care of their mouths as they get older. Here are a few little tips when it comes to teaching your little one how to floss.

Flossing Can Be a Game

If you make flossing into a game, kids are more apt to learn how to do it. Pick their favorite superhero or character from their books. Tell them about how that character would do it to make their body feel all better and keep them strong.

See if your child is up to the task of doing the same thing to keep them healthy, and allow them to grow big and strong.

You can also make flossing into a song. If you do something familiar, such as row, row, row your boat, or the alphabet, they will know the tune. Plus, you can then make up silly words that make them laugh as you floss their teeth, with their help of course.

Children do well when they see a role model exhibiting specific healthy behaviors. If you want to be able to set a good example for your kids, then make sure you are flossing each day, too. Let them see you taking care of your teeth and seeing your dentist.

Then, they will be far less likely to worry about coming in and having us check the health of their teeth. For extra tips or more information, call us today!
My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
