Dental Emergencies In Children

Posted on 1/9/2023 by Fariba Mutschler
Dental Emergencies In ChildrenDental emergencies may occur at any time and need immediate attention. It is important to know when to take a kid to the dentist and how to handle minor issues at home if a dental emergency occurs.

Thread Or Food Lodged Between Teeth

Young children are more prone to this problem. If it is not too bad, you may take care of it yourself at home by using dental floss to carefully remove the trapped item and avoid using other equipment that might cut your child's gums.

Accidental Bites To The Tongue And Lip

Use a cold compress on the bite area to reduce swelling and discomfort. Rinse the area with water. If it is a significant cut, it is best to see a dentist for treatment.

Knocked-Out Tooth

Your child's tooth might be knocked out accidentally. Rinse the tooth and place it back if this occurs. Use a clean cloth or towel to hold it for a few seconds.

If it does not work, store it in a clean container and add milk. Please wait until you go to the dentist to see whether they may save it.

Tooth Chips Or Breaks

Consult your dentist if this occurs. Depending on the severity of the fracture, your kid may need immediate medical attention.

Toothache

The best way to treat a toothache in children is to have them brush their teeth and then rinse their mouths out with warm water. Check the teeth to see if anything is lodged between them.

The first step is to apply a cold compress to the hurting region and then see a dentist. It might cause gum damage if heat or pain treatment ointments are applied directly to the area.

My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
