Laser Dentistry for Kids
December 29th, 2008 by Mark Mutschler
Many dental procedures can be performed without needles or numbness!
Laser dentistry combines a spray of distilled water with laser energy to make energized water and safely perform dental procedures.
This energized water gently and precisely removes both tooth enamel and soft tissues such as gums without heat or vibration. Since there is no heat or vibration, the laser reduces the need for needles and anesthesia.
The laser can also make cavity preparations, numb teeth and gums, and remove soft tissues without needles or numb feeling. It can also help relieve painful canker sores and speed their healing.
Laser dentistry benefits:
- No needles or numbness in many cases.
- The laser’s accuracy allows dentists to leave as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
- Gently performs many soft tissue (gum) procedures with little or no bleeding or numbness.
What procedures can be performed with the laser?
- Removes tooth decay
- Cuts cavity preparations in teeth
- Reduces tooth root sensitivity
- Releases tongue-tied tongues
- Recontours gums
- Cleans periodontal pockets
- Relieves painful canker sores
- Speeds canker sore healing
