What is a Pediatric Dentist?

A pediatric dentist specializes in treating infants, children, teens, and special-needs adults.  Pediatric dentists spend at least two additional years of training after dental school focusing on treatment of these special patients.  Infants, very young children, pre-teens, and teenagers each require unique treatment approaches and each have different developmental needs.  One of a pediatric dentists’ most important skills is the ability to speak to children and teach them how to cope with dental care.
