Questions Your Child Should Ask the Dentist on Their Own

Posted on 1/23/2018 by Fariba Mutschler
Child Dentist Great Grins for KIDS - Oregon City OR 97045A visit to the dentist should not be a like a nightmarish experience for your children.

While sitting under the dentist's chair might sound frightening to the child at first, there are a lot of ways to go around that. Most of the time, the pain is enough motivation for children.

One way to put your children in a better mood is to have them ask questions. This will not only make them less nervous, but this will also make them interested in their dental health. This might even be a motivating factor for your child to pursue dentistry, you may never know.

What Questions Should I Let My Child Ask?

Children are naturally curious creatures. As long as you can prod them to ask anything about their dental health, there should be no problems. A good topic to talk about would be how often they brush their teeth.

You can also prod them on how to floss or how to use mouthwash as a rinse. Another great topic to ask the dentist is their diet, specifically the sweets like candy and ice cream they consume.

One great topic is how to properly brush their teeth. Some brush their teeth in a back and forth motion, which is what most people do. The best brushing motion is actually circular, and the child may be convinced to do that motion by the dentist. Some also floss in a sawing motion, but the best way is actually an up to down one.

By guiding your child's curiosity to a better direction, he or she will not only get better information on their dental health, but you also give them better opportunities to polish their social skills. If you want a kid-friendly dentist office, schedule an appointment with us and let us help you make your children's dental hygiene better.
