Herbst

Herbst appliances connect the lower and upper jaws with a rod and tube system to hold back forward jaw growth.

Most people can open their mouths wide enough to make the rods come out of the tubes.  If this happens, simply open wide again and put the rod back in.  You can avoid this by cutting your food into smaller bite sizes and avoid big yawns or laughs.
