Starting Braces
Orthodontic treatment begins with the construction appointment when we place the orthodontic appliances (braces). These appointments usually take about one hour.
Steel bands are fitted to molars and cemented into place, then brackets are glued (bonded) to the front of the other teeth. We will give you instructions on how to keep your teeth and braces clean.
Often, it takes months before all the teeth get braces. We have found it more comfortable and actually faster to place brackets slowly rather than bracketing all the teeth on the first visit.
Visits to our office will be necessary every three to eight weeks for most of the treatment time.
